Compete4LA helps small businesses become more visible to potential contractors and connects them to the resources they need to successfully compete for new opportunities.
The goal was to level the playing field for small businesses and to drive regional economic resilience.
The LABC Institute developed Compete4LA, a small business engagement program that supports the City of L.A.’s regional procurement initiatives. Compete4LA helps connect small and medium-sized businesses with mentorship and networking opportunities, capacity building resources, and contracts supporting major sports and entertainment events. In response to the 2025 LA wildfires, the database expanded to include small businesses in disaster-impacted areas as well as vendors prepared to support regional recovery and rebuilding efforts.
Today Compete4LA is a digital clearinghouse to help small businesses become more visible to potential contractors and connect them to the resources they need to successfully compete for new opportunities.
